Donald Lee Holland, 85, of Indianola, IA, passed away on December 31, 2023 after a long battle with Parkinson's. He was born on December 28, 1938 in Tipton, IA. and was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Don is survived by his wife, Dorothy, and his children: Debbie Deaton, Linda Thompson, Cathy DeBower, and Jody Holland. He was a loving father-in-law to Shawn Thompson (Linda) and Marc DeBower (Cathy). He was also a proud grandfather to BJ Deaton (Amanda Deaton), Cory Deaton, and Kendall Holland, as well as a doting Poppa to Easton, Nash, Wyatt, and Emmet.

Donald was preceded in death by his father, Harry and mother, Elizabeth Holland, his brothers Larry, James, and Frank Holland, and his sister, Nancy Isebrand.

Donald attended Indianola High School and went on to have a successful career. He retired from AGI as a truck driver and warehouse supervisor. After retirement, he worked for Mercy Hospital as a sterilization technician/brain surgeon and volunteered for the Army Corps of Engineers as a campground host at Saylorville Lake.

In his free time, Donald had a passion for photography, camping, and riding his motorcycle. One of his favorite activities was spending time Down Yonder, making sure it was mowed and well taken care of. He also cherished the moments spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family would like to extend their immense gratitude to Suncrest Hospice for their amazing care of Don (and his family).  Dorothy and the rest of his family especially want to thank Elizabeth and Kayla for taking wonderful care of our Dad and loving him so much.

Celebration of Life Services for Donald Lee Holland, 85, of Indianola, who passed away Sunday, December 31, 2023, will be held 2 p.m., Friday, January 5, 2024 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be given in memory of Donald to the family in his name for a contribution at a later date.
