Services for Donald "Jake" Weeks, 89, who passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2023 in Des Moines, will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, January 21, 2023 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with burial following in the Indianola I.O.O.F. Memorial Gardens Cemetery.  Visitation will be held prior to services from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Donald Dean "Jake" Weeks was born February 3, 1933 in Indianola, IA.  He attended Social Plains School and graduated from Indianola High School in 1951.  He worked as a farmhand from 1951 to 1953 when he enlisted in the United States Army serving from March of 1953 to March of 1955.

After his separation from the Army, he returned to Warren County and farmed for over 60 years.  He was a member of the Indianola Jaycees, American Legion Post # 165 and enjoyed the Iowa State Fair.  He spent many mornings walking at the YMCA in Indianola and around the Indianola Community.  A highlight was coffee in the machine shed and never missed "Wheel of Fortune".

Jake is survived by his son Michael Weeks; sister, Lucy (Darrow) Condon; longtime companion Wanda Lydon and also by many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Grover Cleveland and Dorothy D. (Wallace) Weeks; Siblings, Fern Carnes, Fred Weeks, Marie Ball, Lavena Waldrup, Eva Hoover, Beryl Weeks and Mary Hatcher.

Memorials may be given in his name to Joyce Meyer Ministries or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
