Memorial Services for Dolores Ruth Streyffeler, 92, of Prole, who passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2023, will be held 3 p.m., Saturday, December 9, at Overton Funeral Home with visitation held two hours prior to service from 1 to 3 p.m. Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Linn Grove Cemetery, Norwalk.

Dolores Ruth Newmire was born on November 25, 1931 in Iowa City, where she lived with her parents and two brothers, until graduating from high school.  She moved to Des Moines after graduation, where she met and married Daniel E. Streyffeler.

After they were married, they moved to Prole, where they raised their three sons.  Dolores worked various jobs while raising her family. These jobs included building canoes and working at Herschel Mfg. in Indianola.  She also enjoyed spending time in her yard with her flowers.

Dolores and Dan enjoyed traveling, camping and fishing together.  They took an annual family fishing trip to Ten Mile Lake in Minnesota for many years.  Together they were able to visit most of the states in their 54 years of marriage.  They also worked together at Carelton Mfg in Minnesota, before they both retired and returned to Iowa to live full time.

After Dan passed away in 2009, Dolores spent her remaining years living in the house they built together enjoying their sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who all lived close.

Dolores is survived by her sons, Daniel D. (Tammy) Streyffeler, Dennis D. Streyffeler, James A. (Angie) Streyffeler; grandchildren, Summer (Cody) Michel, Sarah (Jamie) Reeves, Alex (Taylor) Streyffeler, Zach (Brianne) Streyffeler, Meagan Streyffeler, Austin (Heather) Streyffeler, Matt Streyffeler; great-grandchildren, Vinny and Sonny Michel, Jaxson Reeves, Mila and Tilly Streyffeler; sister-in-law, Annabel Meyer. She is preceded in death by her husband, Daniel E.; parents, Charles and Delia Newmire; brothers, Robert and Gene.

Memorials in her memory may be given to Suncrest Hospice.
