Funeral services for Dixie (Nichols) Van Syoc, 63, will be held 10:30 Monday, January 7, 2008 at the Lighthouse Community Church located at Southridge Mall in Des Moines.  Visitation will be held 1 – 5 p.m. Sunday, January 6, at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with family present to greet friends from 3 – 5 p.m.

Dixie was the daughter of Lloyd and Elizabeth Nichols of Indianola, Iowa born December 18, 1944.  She passed away Thursday, January 3, 2008 at the Indianola Good Samaritan Center after a courageous battle with cancer.  She attended Indianola High School, Faith Baptist Bible College and the Des Moines Area Community College Licensed Practical Nursing Program.  She worked at several local hospitals and spent the last twenty years employed by Cardio Thoracic Surgery of the Iowa Clinic.  Dixie was a blessing to each one she met.  She loved her family and friends, church and the patients she served at work.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Jim of Indianola; son, Chad of Tucson, AZ and his daughter, Jayde; son, Daniel of Indianola (Megan and daughter, Kaleigh); sister, Donna and nephew, Matthew and family of State Center; as well as many other friends and relatives.
