Obituary

DIANE M. AMOS

Funeral services for Diane (Dee Dee) M. Amos, 49, who passed away Friday, August 24, 2018 in Indianola, will be held 10 a.m., Wednesday, August 29 at Indianola Freedom Fellowship Church, in Indianola. Burial will be in the I.O.O. F. Cemetery.

Diane was born July 28, 1969, the daughter of Larry and Joanne Amos in Des Moines, Iowa. She attended Indianola Community Schools and Ruby Van Meter School. She lived in numerous group homes before spending the last 6 years at Westview Care Center in Indianola.

During her time at Westview, she was adored by residents and staff and was affectionately known as the Westview greeter to all guests that walked through the door and was typically seen with a cup (or two) of Mt. Dew in her hand. She also served as an honorary staff member during weekly staff meetings.

Diane was a loving daughter, sister and aunt. She loved spending time with family and friends, especially during the holidays. Her excitement of giving and receiving gifts for all occasions was a joy to all. She was an avid lover of animals of all kinds and loved listening to music, watching movies, doing arts and crafts and playing bingo. Diane's passion for life and genuine love for people was infectious and she never met a person she didn't already know.

She was a member of Indianola Freedom Fellowship Church, participated in the Special Olympics, earning many ribbons and attended Camp Wesley Woods each year.

Diane is survived by her mother, Joanne Amos; siblings, Rick (Jennifer) Amos, Marcia (Darcy) Hoch; nieces and nephews, Lance, Sarah, Josh, Jordan, Kole; Aunt and Uncles, Thelma Amos, Bill (Janis) Balzer, Larry (Ellen) Archibald and many other family and friends.  She was preceded in death by her father, Larry Amos; grandparents, Fred and Marguerite Balzer, Charles and Mildred Amos, Uncle Charles Amos, JR; Great Uncle and Aunt Gilbert and Freda Caviness.

The Family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Westview Care Center for the care and love they offered Diane as well as to Suncrest Hospice for their care during Diane's final weeks.
