Obituary

Funeral services for Derald Dammeier, 75, who died Sunday, July 10, 2005, in Des Moines, will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 13, at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola.  Interment will be in Newton Memorial Park Cemetery, Newton, Iowa.

Derald was born in Jasper County, Iowa and was raised in rural Newton.  He graduated from Newton High School in 1949 and owned and operated the D-X Gas Station for many years.  He and his wife Darlene currently own the Newton Memorial Park Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife Darlene; 6 sisters, Hilma (Don) McKinney, Merita Dammeier and Arlene Boyer all of Newton, Marceda (Larry) Romick of Monroe, Roma Mosher of Ottumwa and Luella Bragg of Grinnell and 1 brother, Murry (Diane) Dammeier of Newton as-well-as several nieces and nephews, aunts, uncle and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his daughter Linda and a sister Vera Boles.

Visitation will be held 3:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 12, at Overton Funeral Home where family will be present to greet friends 6:30-8:00 p.m.  Memorials may be given to the family in his name.
