Dennis "Denny" Ray Pagel, 77, passed away Saturday, April 27, 2024 peacefully at home, surrounded by family after a long battle of cancer.  Those who knew Denny knew that his family was always at the center of his life.  He grew up in Indianola in a large family and later returned to the same town to settle down for the remainder of his life. Denny was an owner-operator pulling for companies such as Nestle Transportation and Dart Transportation but always looked forward to returning home to his family.

In his free time, he loved spending time outdoors. Whether it was camping, fishing or just sitting on the deck, Denny was happy. If you asked him, he would tell you that was all he ever wanted for his children and grandchildren: for them to be happy. Denny certainly brought joy to all who knew him.

Denny is survived by his wife, Rebecca Pagel; daughter, Tammy (David) Keifer; son, Dennis Jr. "D.J." (Sarah Neis) Pagel; granddaughters Kathryn Pagel and Autumn Wood; grandson, Travis Keifer; step-grandson, James Neis; great granddaughter, Jacklynn Wood; siblings, Janet (Roy) Broker, Linda (Clarence) Bartlett, Robert (Judy) Pagel and Gaylord (Diana) Pagel.  He was preceded in death by his daughter, Wendy Wood; parents, Gerald and Edith (McCulley) Pagel; sisters, Carol Sue Pagel and Barbara (Fredie) Chitwood.

Visitation will be held 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at Overton Funeral Home and the funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at the funeral home.  Burial will follow services in the Indianola I.O.O.F. Cemetery.  Memorials in memory of Dennis, may be given to the Indianola Public Library.
