IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Delores Weeks
Porter
May 8, 1932 – November 19, 2025
Delores May Weeks, 93, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior on November 19th, 2025.
She was born to Ludwig and Elizabeth Renner and spent her early years traveling across the country with her mother, ultimately graduating from Roosevelt High School in Honolulu, HI. Shortly after graduation, she met a handsome soldier from Iowa, and on Valentine's Day in 1950, she became Mrs. Delores Weeks. Dee and Chuck were married for 45 years until his passing in 1995, and together they raised three children: Fred Jr., Jennifer, and Jeff.
After Chuck's passing, Delores found companionship again, marrying Harold Porter, and then Bob Bristle. Though widowed three times, Delores faced adversity with courage and grace, never losing her capacity to love deeply and care for others.
Delores dedicated 30 years to the Des Moines Public Schools food service, retiring as cafeteria manager at East High School. Her work aligned perfectly with her passion for breaking bread with family, caring for others, and nourishing those around her. She lived her Christian values daily—hard work, honesty, humility, thrift, and kindness—and her sense of humor and competitive card playing made her a beloved friend to many.
She will be lovingly remembered by her brother, Rush (Jana) Renner; half-sister, Eileen Reem; sisters-in-law, Genie Renner, Alyce Lowden, and Sharon (Dave) Watt; aunt, Barbara Mostoffa; her children, Fred Jr., Jennifer (Rick) Meehl, and Jeff (Vicki) Weeks; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents; her three husbands; her brother, Ludwig Renner; infant sister, Yvonne Renner; and many cherished friends and family.
The family will hold a private graveside service in accordance with her wishes. A Celebration of Life will be held from 11 to 3 p.m., Saturday, February 7, 2026 at Sherwood Forest Event Center, 7400 Hickman Rd, Des Moines, Iowa 50322. Dee requested, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Macular Degeneration Research at brightfocus.org/MDRmatch. This link will double your donation.
Mom chose EveryStep Hospice Kavanagh House and the family wants to thank them for the extraordinary care she received during her hospice stay. They treated her with dignity, tenderness, and respect-qualities that made her final days peaceful and full of grace.
