Delmar was born June 6, 1907 on a farm in Warren County, Iowa. He farmed the land and was a true conservationist. He showed Registered Shire Horses at the Iowa State Fair and the Chicago Livestock Show, winning several competitions. He was active in the Warren County Fair Board for several years and also a member of Farm Bureau. Delmar was an expert on Warren County history and loved visiting with people about family histories and historic events. He especially enjoyed the reward of providing people with information that was long forgotten by most others. He also enjoyed reading.

Surviving are his sons, George (Diana) Coon of Des Moines and Stuart Coon of Clinton, IL; grandsons Brian (Julie) Coon and son Alec and Brent Coon. He was preceded in death by his wife Lois.

Visitation will be held 3 – 8 p.m., Tuesday, June 6 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola where family will be present to greet friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Memorials may be given to the Warren County Historical Society.
