Dean Young, the son of Dale H. and Marjorie M. Metcalf Young, was born on the family farm near Milo, Iowa on April 30, 1920 and graduated from Milo High School in 1937. Dean served in the Army Air Corps from 1943 – 1947 when he was honorably discharged.

On April 30, 1948 he was united in marriage to Susie Ilene Keeney. To this union three children were born, Robert, Bruce and Brenda. The family had lived and farmed east and north of Milo. Dean had also worked for Farm Bureau for 10 years.

He is survived by his wife Susie Young of Indianola; children Robert Young and wife Becky of Tipton, IA, Bruce Young and wife Lynnea of Lacona, Brenda Thompson and husband Ron of Indianola; sister, Charlotte Johnston of Indianola; 8 grandchildren, Brent Pace, Neal Young and wife Krissy, Nathan Young, Wade Young, Lindsay Young, Angela Young, Lisa Young and husband Brian Amidon, and Diana Young 2 great-grandchildren, Lane and Emily Pace and a host of other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson Phillip Young.
