DEAN RICHMOND Indianola Dean Richmond passed away on Sunday November 30th, 2014 in Indianola, Iowa surrounded by loved ones. He spent 79 years enjoying life, family, friends, and the outdoors. Memorial services will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, December 6 at Scotch Ridge United Presbyterian Church, rural Carlisle. Visitation with family will be held 1 hour prior to service at the church. Burial of cremains will be held at a later date. Dean was born on January 9th, 1935 in Geneva, IL to his parents Amy (Denker) and Frank Richmond. He grew up in a rural setting around Wasco, IL with an older sister, Virginia, and two older brothers, Owen and Lowell. Besides enjoying time with his siblings, he had chores to complete and work to do. His time was split between building houses with his father, and milking dairy cows with his uncles. He graduated from St. Charles High School then went on to study agriculture, and obtain a degree from Iowa State University in 1959. Iowa State is where he met his wife Vivian (Krause). They were married on August 6th 1960, beginning life together in Illinois. Dean was involved in the Army National Guard when his work career first started in the dairy industry. Then it gradually changed over the years through various sales and management roles in both construction and agriculture. He and Vivian had three children (Mark, David, DeAnne) along the way, and there was always a family dog present. Dean enjoyed the many aspects of family life, preferring to spend time with them in activities like gardening, bird watching, hiking, camping, and Boy Scouts. His main interests were agriculture, conservation, and wildlife. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Vivian. Son, Mark Richmond with wife Katy, and grandkids Jessica and Benjamin from Des Moines, Iowa. Son, David Richmond with wife Tina, and grandkids Annika, Seth, and Keely from Champaign, Illinois. Daughter, DeAnne Akers with husband Jim, and grandkids Jim and Addison from Winterset, Iowa. Dean will also be remembered by many other relatives and friends. Memorials can be made to either the Warren County Conservation Board, or Boy Scout Troop 43 RRV.
