Obituary

Dean Frederick Gaul, born on September 17, 1953 in Saginaw, Michigan to parents Frederick and Miriam Gaul, passed peacefully at home on December 25, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.

Dean was an employee of United Airlines since 1973. His career took him all over the country before settling his family in Indianola, IA in 1995. After retirement from the airline, Dean grew a successful handyman business: DGaul Drywall & Repair. Dean is well known for his hard work, perfection and ability to truly do it all.

Dean was an attentive and loving husband to his wife, Pamela of 47 years. Together they built a family and were blessed with 4 grandchildren. He was an amazing father and grandfather. His happiest days were being surrounded by his family and being an outdoorsman. His expansive hunting and fishing trips took him to places like The Yukon Territories, Alaska and Wyoming. But his favorite place to be was in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

Dean is preceded in death by his father, Frederick Gaul; biological mother, Miriam Gaul (Schackleford); and his mother, Katherine Kelley Gaul.

Dean is survived by his wife, Pamela; his children, Kelley (Tim Houser) Gaul-Houser, Jared (Lillian) Gaul, and Rachelle Gaul; his beautiful grandchildren, Hannah, Arloa, Oscar Dean and Esta.

A celebration of life service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, January 15, 2022 at the Indianola Community Church. There will also be a celebration of life held in Michigan at a later date this June.
