Daryl Dean Suntken, 70, died at home on Monday, April 10, 2017.

Daryl was born August 18, 1946 in Belmond, Iowa to Benjamin and Tina (Barkema) Suntken. He attended a rural elementary school and graduated from Belmond High School. Upon receiving a BA in education from Wartburg College, Daryl taught in the Hampton Community schools for six years. At this time he met his future wife, Diane Lappe. They were married on December 31, 1977 at The Little Brown Church in The Vale, Nashua, Iowa. They settled in Atlantic, Iowa, where Daryl continued his career with Walnut Grove, PCA and the Anita State Bank. In 1984, they moved to Indianola where Daryl continued in banking with the Brenton Bank, Wells Fargo Bank, and Community State Bank. In 1996, he became a business owner of Once Upon A Child. After semi-retiring, Daryl and Diane enjoyed traveling during the winter months. Daryl greatly loved and enjoyed his children and grandchildren.

Daryl is survived by his wife, Diane of Indianola; three children, Stephanie (Tyler) Martin of Granger, Iowa, Stacie (Joel) Clemence of Wamego, Kansas, and TJ Suntken of Chicago, Illinois; four grandchildren, Maddison, Case, and Will Martin and Henry Clemence. Daryl was preceded in death by his parents.

A Memorial Visitation will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 17 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola where family will be present to greet friends.  Memorials may be given to the family in his name for a contribution of their choosing at a later date.
