DARWIN DWAYNE DICKEY

Services for Darwin Dwayne Dickey, 78, who passed away on Monday, December 11, 2017, will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, December 14, 2017 at First Assembly of God Church in Indianola with burial following in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Indianola, IA.

Dwayne was born April 8, 1939 in Murray, Iowa, son of Letha Culbertson and Clarence Dickey.  He was the oldest of four boys and he graduated from Osceola High School. Dwayne married Betty McCloney on June 12, 1966. They had two wonderful children, Kelly Ann and Brian Scott. Dwayne worked road construction and at Good Samaritan Care Center in the kitchen the last years before retirement.

Dwayne loved his children, grandchildren, family gatherings and being with friends. He loved fishing in Canada with his friends. He loved gardening and planting flowers; he and his children had a Christmas tree farm together. He loved being a member of Indianola First Assembly of God Church;  he was a board member, helped with Royal Rangers, and sang in the church choir. He loved sports, especially the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Dwayne is survived by his wife, Betty; children, Kelly (Steve) Erickson and Brian (Mendy) Dickey; grandchildren, Madelyn and Charlie Dickey, Ben and Nick Mull, Sam, Nick and Jacob Erickson; brothers, Del (Marlene) Dickey, Wendell (Carol) Dickey, Randy (Jaci) Culbertson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Letha Culbertson.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola where family will be present to greet friends.
