Services for Darl Eugene Bumgarner, who died Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at The Village Health Center in Indianola, Iowa, at the age of 82 years, 5 months and 12 days, will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 16 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. Burial will follow in the Liberty Center Cemetery.

Darl was born October 2, 1924 to John Fredrick and Leona (Williams) Bumgarner in Warren County, Iowa. On March 24, 1945 he married Elaine Simmerman, who preceded him in death on April 11, 2006.

Darl was an Agricultural Products Inspector for the Iowa Department of Agriculture for many years. He and Elaine also farmed in Warren County all their lives. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Indianola, a 50 year member of the Milan Masonic Lodge, The Consistory of Des Moines, and Indianola Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star. He was a member of the Warren County Historical Society and Warren County Farm Bureau, having served as County President. Darl served in the United States Army during WWII.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brothers, Raymond "Teddy" and John "Freddie"; sisters, Marjorie Taylor and Helen Lawrence; and brothers-in-law, Dwayne Guy and George Taylor. He is survived by sisters, Joan Guy and Caryll Wilbur and husband, Ed; brother-in-law, Paul Lawrence; sister-in-law, Ailene Harris; nieces, nephews and many friends.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home on Friday. Memorials may be given to his church.
