Darin Gregory Hraha passed away on Friday, September 25, 2020 in Des Moines, IA. A Celebration of life visitation will be held 3 to 8 p.m., Monday, October 5, 2020 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola, where family will be present from 5 to 8 p.m.

Darin was born July 21, 1977 to Greg and Sheila (Lash) Hraha joining his brothers Rob and Ryan at their home in rural Martensdale, Iowa. Darin attended school at Martensdale St Marys in Martensdale and grew up on an acreage where he enjoyed riding 3-wheelers and playing with the family pets, especially favorite Alaskan Malamute Kate.

Darin was an avid water sport enthusiast and could water ski, jet ski and tube all day long. His dad would try to flip him off the tube…couldn't be done. He loved camping trips and was the first one to jump up and help his dad get set up. He loved trips to Rathbun with friends at "Hodgeville" and especially loved trips to Table Rock Lake.

Darin and Stephanie McAninch were married June 16, 2001. Together they had three children, Caleb, Ciera, Camryn and along with their Husky Demon, they made their home in Des Moines, Iowa. While always a man of few words, Darin would often express his great pride in his children's academic successes, life choices and exuberant fun-loving personalities. So proud of Caleb, as he became USAF Staff Sgt Caleb Hraha; of Ciera, as she graduated High School; and of his sweetheart Camryn. He loved his children with all his heart.

Starting in his dad's garage, construction and working with his hands was what he enjoyed. He worked for Kennedy Construction, HSI Carpenters Union, and most recently was self-employed and involved with remodeling. He was creative and talented…able to handle any job put before him and not afraid to tackle something new. He was always available to help family with moving, vehicle repair, or home improvement projects.

He left many to mourn his passing which include his children, Caleb, Ciera, Camryn; parents, Greg and Sheila Hraha; brother Rob; special aunts, Connie Cox, Tish O'Mara; uncle, Tom O'Mara; all his guy cousins and special "only girl" cousin Kelsey; as well as other numerous family members. All of his family held a special place in his heart. He is preceded in death by his brother Ryan, who he loved dearly; paternal grandparents George Hraha and Florence Carico; maternal grandparents Dale and Doris Lash, on whose farm he spent many fun weekends and holidays; uncles Regi Lash and Mike Cox.
