Obituary

Daniel Henry Ripperger, 75, of Indianola, passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 10, 2024 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Indianola with burial following in the IOOF Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, May 9 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with a Rosary Service at 7 p.m.

Dan graduated from Southeast Warren in 1967. He completed Tool & Die training at DMACC, then went to work for John Deere in 1968 and retired after 33 years. Dan and Kathy were married in August of 1971. They spent much of their 52 years traveling. They loved their annual fishing trips to Canada and fished much of the mid-west. They also traveled to many states where they both competed in trap-shooting events. Dan was a member and supporter of many outdoor organizations including the Izaak Walton League, Ducks Unlimited, American Trapshooting Association and others. Dan relished the times he spent hunting, fishing & shooting with friends and family.

Dan is survived by his wife, Kathy; children, Katie Ripperger, James Ripperger; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; siblings, Wilfred Ripperger, Rosie (Marvin "Duffy") Metz, Wilma Miller; and many nieces, nephews, other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Firman and Florence Ripperger.

Memorials in memory of Dan, may be given to the family for a contribution at a later date.
