Memorial services for Dan Foland, 66, of Indianola, Iowa, who passed away Thursday, October 17, 2024, will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, October 24, 2024, at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola, with inurnment following in the IOOF Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Indianola.

Dan was born on September 29, 1958 in Des Moines, Iowa.  He was the youngest of two children. He lived in Altoona until 9th grade, when his family moved to Indianola. Following High School, he went on to test the waters in a few different industries, until he found his true passion as a union painter. He was the proudest of his work at Color Inc. Always the first on the job site and always making sure his work was top notch. He worked there for approximately 20 years. His good work ethic and professionalism is something he certainly passed on to all four of his children.

Dan met his wife Kris in 1984 and they were united in marriage on April 13, 1985. Dan loved being a father to the four kids, and a grandfather to all eight of his grandkids. He enjoyed playing ball in the backyard and coaching his kids' teams. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan, until Jake graduated from IA State and he had to root for the Cyclones. Dan loved being outdoors, especially if it was hunting or fishing. He loved taking his kids and grandkids to enjoy these simple pleasures in life.

Dan has always said his greatest accomplishment in life was his family. He was a good Friend, Son, Husband, Dad, Grandpa, and loved by all. We will miss his silly jokes, his storytelling, his laugh, and most of all his unconditional love.

Dan is survived by his wife, Kris; children, Justin (Stephanie) Drake, Matt (Kristin) Drake, Sarah (Jarrod) Foland, Jake (Kaci) Foland; grandchildren, Reyce Foland, Jamie Foland, Miles Foland, Lucy Drake, Nolan Drake, Evelyn Drake, Ellie Drake, Harrison Drake; and many nieces, nephews and other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Verda Foland; sister, Pam Beach.

Visitation with family present will be held 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 23 at Overton Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to the Iowa Donor Network in his name.
