Funeral services for Cody James Brightman, 36, who passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2018 in Chariton, IA, will be held 7 p.m., Friday, August 3 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola.  Visitation will be held from 5 to
7 p.m., prior to services.  Cremation will follow services.

Cody is survived by his father, Jim Brightman; brother, Clint Brightman; sisters, Johnna Feola and Julie Totty; and nephew, Chad Perez; a tremendous numbers of friends and 3 very important children in his life, Chloe, Ethan and little miss Oakley. He was preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn Brightman.

Cody had an undeniable personality geared towards making memories with his friends, spending his time out in the sticks, cooking up some good grub, hunting and living a free spirit life. Cody spend his earlier days in and out of kitchens making food for people to enjoy here in Iowa and extending out west to California. He later worked his way into the Sheet Metal trade, spending several years working alongside his brother Clint and eventually earning his journeyman's card.  You will be forever missed, but never forgotten.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Cody's name to the American Cancer Society or the charity of their choice.
