He loved to teach, and was the George Washington Carver Professor of Natural Science for 53 years at Simpson College. For 36 of those years, he served as the chairman of the Division of Natural Sciences. During his years in Indianola, Cliff was a member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church. He served in many capacities at Mt. Calvary. In addition he served on district committees and synodical boards. His faith in Christ was the greatest joy of his life.
