Obituary

A Mass of Christian Burial for Clarence Paul Dooley, 86, who died Thursday, March 25, 2010 at the Good Samaritan Center in Indianola, will be held 10 a.m., Monday, March 29 at St. Patrick's Irish Settlement Catholic Church. Burial with military rites will follow in the St. Patrick's Irish Settlement Cemetery rural Madison County.

Clarence was born in rural Madison County, IA and had served in the United States Marine Corps during WW II on Saipan and Okinawa and the occupation of Japan.  He was united in marriage to Betty Crow on August 5, 1944 at Camp Pendleton.  Following his service he returned to Iowa and farmed in the Madison and Warren County area.  He was a friend to everyone.

He is survived by his wife, Betty; son Mike of Martensdale; sister, Mabel King of Waukee; and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Goldie Dooley; brothers, George, John in infancy and Francis Dooley; sisters, Sister Mary Sheila Dooley and Mary Catherine Pierce.

Visitation will be held 4 to 7:30 p.m., Sunday, March 28 at Overton Funeral Home where family will be present to greet friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. with a Rosary service held at 7:30 p.m.
