Chris was an avid hiker, accomplished musician, and world traveler. He wished to pursue a career in politics and law. As a child, he was a member of the Des Moines Children's Chorus and was a boy tenor and principal actor in the Des Moines Metro Opera. He was a High School Student Body President, was a National Merit Scholar finalist, had been a three-year All-State Honor Choir singer, and won many other academic and musical awards throughout his High School career. At Grinnell College he was a member of the Student Senate, the Grinnell Singers and the G-Tones a cappella group. He also fostered a love of the outdoors and was a leader in the Grinnell Outdoor Orientation Program, guiding incoming students on hiking trips through Wisconsin, Utah and Arkansas.
Chris had a boundless passion for living and brought out the best in everyone that he met. It was said that he knew no strangers, and he inspired others to reach for more than they had thought was possible in their own lives.
Chris was preceded in death by his grandfather, Forest Kunkle. He is survived by his parents Joel and Debra Hade, his sister Allison Hade and the love of his life Natti Tipayamongkol. His grandparents are Robert and Abbie Hade and Beverly Kunkle.
A benefit concert had already been planned for Chris and will now be a tribute and celebration of his life. It will be held 7 p.m., Saturday, November 29 at the Indianola High School auditorium. Donations will go to the establishment of a memorial to be determined at a future date and can be directed to the Chris Hade Benefit Fund at Community State Bank, 1401 N. Jefferson St., Indianola, IA 50125. Online condolences may be sent at www.overtonfunerals.com.
Chris' family would like to thank Dr. Thomas Buroker and Dr. Richard Deming and their staffs. They would also like to thank the people of the Powell 3 cancer floor at Iowa Methodist Hospital for their excellent care and love for Chris.
