IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Chloris
Haas
February 3, 1930 – August 25, 2024
On August 25, 2024, angels ushered Chloris Haas into glory. Near her passing, she quoted, DL Moody, "Earth recedes, and heaven opens before me." Chloris, age 94, was the youngest of eight children born to Carl and Ivabelle (Hicks) Miller in Motor, Iowa on February 3, 1930.
As a child, Chloris trusted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior. She married Myron on December 18, 1949, and spent her life farming near Liberty Center, Iowa. Despite facing challenges like polio in her youth and later developing macular degeneration, she maintained a joyful attitude in all her circumstances.
Chloris loved gardening and music, but her deepest love was for her Lord. She cherished and faithfully prayed for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an active member of Indianola Regular Baptist Church and Grace Baptist Church in Chariton, Iowa, where she played piano for worship services.
Her dedication to sharing her faith was evident in her interactions with everyone she met, always prepared with a gospel tract. Christian radio held a special place in her heart, and she delighted in listening to sermons and traditional Christian music. Chloris was an avid reader and read the entire David Jeremiah's Study Bible, including its annotations, and was reading through John MacArthur's Study Bible. To keep her mind sharp, she memorized Scripture and especially loved Romans.
Chloris found joy in sharing sermons and books to inspire others in their spiritual journey. She had a particular interest in prophecy and eagerly anticipated the Rapture of the Church. Her generosity was reflected in her support of her church, local ministries, various Christian broadcasts, and Samaritan's Purse.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Myron, and her daughter, Gayla Marshall and a great granddaughter, Ellie Mae Haas. Those left to celebrate her life include her son Ron and wife Cynthia Haas and their family: Stuart and Kali Haas with children Liam, Emerson, and Nora; Ethan Haas; and Jared and Amanda Haas, with their son Ruger; Bob Marshall, her son-in-law and his family: Kelli and Chris Turpin with daughters Jade and Josh Rose and Becca Turpin; Tiffany Marshall with daughter Grace Marshall; and Angela Eakins with children Alexis, Jordon, and Caleb.
Memorial gifts can be given to Grace Baptist Church in Chariton, Iowa or Samaritan's Purse.
The funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., August 30, 2024, at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola, Iowa, with the visitation prior to services from 10 to 11 a.m. Interment will follow in the Liberty Center Cemetery.
