Funeral Services for Cherry Ruth Olson, 77, who passed away Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at her home in New Virginia, will be held 10 a.m., Monday, July 9 at the New Virginia United Methodist Church with burial following in the Scotch Ridge Cemetery, rural Carlisle.

Cherry was born in Des Moines, IA. on January 11, 1941 and was baptized in the Scotch Ridge Presbyterian Church of Carlisle.  She attended school and graduated from Indianola High School and attended one year at Simpson College in Indianola.  Cherry was united in marriage to Lee Olson on June 30, 1967.  They resided in Hawarden IA. until 1983 when they moved to New Virginia until the time of her death.  Cherry enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ivan and Genevieve Hastie and her brother Ben Hastie.  Cherry is survived by her husband, Lee Donald Olson; son, Scott (Renee) Olson; step daughters, Radine Wassell and LeAnne (David) Haslag; five grandchildren, and two great grandchildren; sister, Linda Gray and several nieces and nephews.

The family will greet friends one hour prior to the services at the church.  Memorial contributions St. Judes Children's Hospital.
