Charlotte Wilson was born April 8, 1937 at the Indianola Hospital to Pearl and Ellen (Coon) Wiley. She passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at MercyOne Hospice in Johnston. A Celebration of Life will be held 3 p.m., Friday, March 24, 2023 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service at the funeral home. Inurnment will be held at a later date.
She graduated from Hartford High School and Des Moines Area Community College. Charlotte worked for Equitable Life Insurance Company and Iowa Des Moines National Bank. She was a professional seamstress and had her own shop for many years. She also sang for many weddings, various organizations and her church. She directed the youth choir and the chancel choir at the Christian Church. She was Past Worthy Matron of O.E.S. and a 50 plus year member and also served as secretary. Charlotte was secretary for Friends of the Carlisle Public Library for about 15 years. She enjoyed reading, walking and having friends and family for dinners.
She married Franklin Wilson March 17, 1967. They attended the Methodist Church and Charlotte sang in the choir and participated in the Kids Hope Program. They enjoyed traveling and spent several years in Mesa, AZ. She loved her children and being home with them and traveling with them. They were her pride and joy.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Franklin of 56 years; sons, Russell (Vickie) Johnson of Loveland, CO, Phillip Wilson of New Braunfels, TX, Raymond Wilson of Carlisle, IA; 5 grandchildren, Arron (Naomi) Johnson, Christina (Travis) Steele, Hunter (Rebecca) Wilson, Lauren Wilson and Cole Wilson; and 5 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Carmen Pearl Johnson; brother, Jim Wiley. In lieu of flowers donations may be given to the Carlisle Public Library or the Music Department of the Carlisle Methodist Church.
