Services for Charley Wilson Spence, 77, who passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2016 will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 9 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with burial following in the New Virginia Cemetery, New Virginia, IA.

Charley Wilson Spence, son of Bert and Joanna Spence was born on January 15, 1939.  Charley graduated high school from Indianola, Iowa with the class of 1957.

He married Ruth Marie Houlette on June 15, 1958. They were parents of 4 children,  Diane, Phillip, Shirley and Christine.

Charley was active in the New Virginia Church of Christ and was baptized on March 11, 1958.

He was a lifelong resident of Warren County, where he farmed for most of his life. He enjoyed going to auctions and visiting with everyone who came along.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, daughter, Diane, brother Robert and his parents.

He is survived by his son Phil (Christy), daughters Shirley Harris, Christine (Larry) Shivers, son-in-law Mark Davison and Special friend Mary Fry, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, sister Hazel Wickett, brothers Gary and Skip and many relatives and friends. .

Visitation will be held 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, September 8 at Overton Funeral Home with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. to greet friends.  Memorials may be given the New Virginia Fire & Rescue Department.  To view a complete obituary and to send online condolences go to www.overtonfunerals.com.
