Obituary

Services for Charles Ray Stalter, 79, who died Wednesday, October 29, 2008, will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 1 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with burial following in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Ray was born near Medora, Iowa to Claren and Julia Edgerton Stalter.  He owned and operated a filling station; worked in law enforcement for the Indianola Police Department; worked for Lentz Chevrolet; and 18 years in sales for RPW.  Ray also enjoyed farming.  He was a member and served as treasurer in the churches of Indianola Christian Union and Indianola Regular Baptist where he also worked with the youth and served as building chairman at Indianola Regular Baptist.  He cherished his two daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Donna of 54 years; daughters, Julie (Dennis) Parker and Pam (Steve) Lukenbill both of Indianola; siblings, Keith (Marie) Stalter of Marysville, WA, Mary (Willie) Adamson, Shirley (Delmer) Kalbus, Marie Knoer all of Indianola, and Jim (Pat) Stalter of Adel; brother-in-law, Donald Goodrich of Prole; sisters-in-law, Frances Stalter of New Virginia and Kathy Stalter of Indianola; grandchildren, Denny (Angie) Parker, Phil (Rachel) Parker, Jesse (Calie) Lukenbill, Whitney (Melvin) Rivas, Lance Parker and Olivia Lukenbill; great grandchildren, Isabella, Elliet, William and Samuel Parker and Kristen and Joaquin Rivas; and many nephews and nieces.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Donald, Gale, Carol and Jerry Stalter; and sisters, Darlene Goodrich, Carolyn Knouse and Judy Stalter.

Visitation will be held 3 – 8 p.m., Friday, October 31 at Overton Funeral Home where family will be present to greet friends from 6 – 8 p.m.  Memorials may be given the Alzheimer's Association or the Indianola Regular Baptist Church.  On Line condolences may be sent at www.overtonfunerals.com.
