Obituary

Services for Charles "Bud" Oakley, 80, who passed away August 2, 2005 at the Good Samaritan Center in Indianola, will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 5 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola.

Interment will follow in the Belmont Cemetery east of Milo.

Bud served active duty in the United States Marine Corp from 1943 - 1950 and for the Marine Corp Reserve from 1951 - 1953, while employed at John Deere in Ankeny.  He retired from John Deere after 30 years and continued to farm south of Sandyville in Warren County, for a total of 40 years.  He enjoyed farming, using conservation practices; raising cattle and after retirement spending winters in Florida.

He is survived by his wife, Molly; five sons, Dennis and wife, Michelle of Hartford, Mark of Sandyville, James of Carlisle, Joseph and wife, Sandy of San Antonio, TX, and Lex and wife, De Ann from Carlisle; one daughter, Ann Newby and husband Tim of Palmetto, FL; three step children, Don Wimberly and wife, Val of Tok, AK, Janice Jordan and husband, Dan and Karen Hall of Pleasantville; sister, Faye Weaver and husband, Don of Inverness, FL; step daughter-in-law, Connie Wimberly of Indianola; and 19 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.  Bud was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary; parents, Elsie and Charles; and sister, Helen; step son, Gary Wimberly.

Visitation will be held 3:00 - 8:00 p.m., Thursday, August 4 at the funeral home where family will be present to greet friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.

Memorials may be given to Hospice of Central Iowa for Warren County.
