IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Charles "Marc"
Marcus Dalbey
July 23, 1948 – February 5, 2025
Marc passed away peacefully on February 5, 2025, in Indianola, Iowa. He was born on July 23, 1948, in Spencer, Iowa to Charles Wendell ("C.W.") Dalbey and Verna Peterson Dalbey.
Marc was talented with his hands and loved to "tinker." He restored old Studebakers, motorcycles, and Cub Cadet lawn mowers. He was an accomplished wood worker and tended to the strawberries, tomatoes, and corn in his garden each summer. He loved animals and his favorite cat, "Kitty," would sit by his feet while he worked on projects or watched movies on television.
He enjoyed music and was a talented bass singer. He loved to listen to records and radio stations of all kinds. He even built handheld radios from scratch so his young nieces could listen to rock and roll.
Marc cared deeply for his family and took pride in its farm history. His favorite memories were of spending summer days with his cousins on the Dalbey farm. Each year, without fail, he visited the family graves on Memorial Day to clean the stones and lay wreaths and each year, without fail, he attended the Iowa State Fair to see what was new in agriculture.
Marc is survived by his sister, Cynthia Dalbey Greenburg (Barry); nieces, Jennifer Greenburg (Casey Stockdon), Heidi Rettig (John Efner), and Kari Rettig (Ben Moore); and cousins, Dennis (Janice), Joe (Marla), and Susan Dalbey. The family is especially grateful to cousins Joe and Dennis Dalbey, who were kind and supportive friends to Marc during the last months of his life.
Marc will be buried next to his parents and sister Kathryn at the family plot in Shenandoah, Iowa.
