Born in Dallas Center, Iowa, Carroll had been an Indianola resident since 1966. He worked as a Correctional Therapist at the Knoxville V.A. Hospital for thirty years and a Street Crossing Guard for the Indianola Public Schools for twenty years. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran in World War II having served in Hawaii; he later enlisted with the Air Force National Guard for twelve years.

He was a member of the Indianola Christian Union Church.

Surviving are his two daughters Kathie Sue Hutcheson and Carolee Walles and her husband Joseph, both of Indianola; and six grand children and ten great-grand children.

Carroll was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn, in 1999.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Indianola Christian Union Church.
