Carole Lynn Brandel, 72, passed away the morning of July 14, 2022, after a long battle with cancer. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at the Indianola First Assembly of God Church, with burial following in the Indianola I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Carole was born September 23, 1949, to Vernon and Margie Dodson in Des Moines, Iowa.

She graduated from Tech High School in Des Moines in 1968. She was saved in 1977.

Carole was a homemaker and mother of two daughters. She moved with her family to Indianola in 1984. She was a longtime member of First Assembly of God Church in Indianola. She was also a grandmother to 17 grandchildren and great-grandmother to 13 great-grandchidren. She married Lonnie Brandel on January 19 ^th , 2013.

Mom was an amazingly devoted mother and grandmother who loved shopping and was a talented artist. She was fond of playing cards and putting the hammer down. She was an animal lover who always kept pets. She was a great listener and always gave good advice.

Carole is survived by her husband, Lonnie Brandel; daughters Sarah (Aaron) Neely and Elizabeth (John) Tonsi; grandchildren, Alexis (Billy), Naomi, Abigail, Chloe, Michael, Lydia, Gabriel, Isabel, Lindsey, Luke, Lance, Lee, Amber, Aron, Danny, Deatra and Dalton; great-grandchildren, Grady, Kale, Ayana, Arianna, Lincoln, Winney, Brycen, Deegan, Knox, Alyx, Camilla, Hunter, and Bentley; siblings Connie Harlan, Marilyn (Larry) Brown, Susan (Ray) Christian, and Vernon Dodson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Margie Dodson, and brother, Mark Dodson.

Visitation will be held 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at the First Assembly of God Church.  Memorials may be given in her name to the Animal Rescue League.
