Funeral services for Carol Jean Jespersen, 75, who died Thursday, October 28, 2004 at Kavanagh House on 56th Street in Des Moines after a courageous two-year battle with lung cancer, will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, November 1, at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Indianola of which she was a member. Graveside services will be held 3:00 p.m., Monday at the Pleasant View Cemetery in Aplington, Iowa.

She was born in Aplington, Iowa and attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. She later taught in the Dumont and Urbana public school systems, lived in Hampton many years, then moved to Indianola in 1976. She enjoyed antiquing, wood finishing, cooking for her family, and singing.

She is survived by her husband, Donald; daughter, Jean (Craig) Jespersen Bartholomew of Glen Ellyn, IL; grandson, James Bartholomew of Hanover, NH; brother, Kenneth Brower of Waterloo; and sister, Ruth Peters of Santa Barbara, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, Riekus and Gertrude Brower and her brother, Robert Lee Brower.

Visitation will be held 2:00 - 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 31, at Overton Funeral Home, Indianola, where the family will be present to greet friends from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. Memorials may be designated to Warren County Cancer Society or Redeemer Lutheran Church.
