Services for Calvin "Cal" Brown, 88, who passed away of heart failure Saturday, September 28, 2013 at home, will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 1 at the First Baptist Church in Indianola with burial following in the Linn Grove Cemetery, Prole, IA. Calvin was born near Sargent, NE moving to Iowa in 1949. He lived on a farm near Martensdale from 1956-1999 before moving to The Village in Indianola. Calvin served in the Navy during WWII and started Midwest Sprinkler Company in 1953. Calvin is survived by his wife Donna; four daughters, Carol (Bruce) Blanchard of Lexington, KY, Beverly Brown of New Port Richey, FL, Judy Brown of Murphy, NC, Dottie (Jim) Johnson of Indianola; two stepchildren, Randy (Karen) Corning of Indianola, Diane (Doug) Gladson of Norwalk; four brothers, John of Ohio, Dick, Jack and Robert of Iowa; 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Calvin was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty, infant daughter Barbara, parents, two brothers and two sisters. Visitation will be held 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, September 30 at Overton Funeral Home where family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. to greet friends.
