Brenda Jean Gay, 71, of Indianola, Iowa, peacefully entered into the presence of the Lord on October 19, 2025. Brenda was born on June 8, 1954, in Howell, Michigan to the late Jack and Eleanor Forton.

A LIFE OF LOVE

On December 22, 1971, she married her beloved husband, Douglas Glenn Gay, and together they raised 3 rambunctious boys: Michael, Bradley, and Douglas. In her earlier adult years, she enjoyed a lot of George Strait concerts, autographs, pictures with him, and hugs from him!

Her family was her greatest treasure, and she found immense joy in every moment she spent with them, from taking pictures of them for scrapbooking to enjoying the Christmas holiday with a birthday cake for Jesus with her grandchildren.

DEDICATED SERVICE AND CHERISHED MEMORIES

Over the years, Brenda held different jobs; of those, the few that meant the most to her were being a veterinary technician and driving semi-truck over the road with her hubby and their cat Jingles.

She found joy in spending time with family, making scrapbooks and quilts for her children and grandchildren, going to the Corydon church, taking care of countless inside and outside cats, taking pictures of various wildlife/landscapes/family members, and making memories with her grandchildren.

The family is tremendously moved and grateful to The Village Care Center for the compassionate care they provided for Brenda in the last several months of her life and WesleyLife Hospice for assisting in that care for the last week of her time here on the earth.

Brenda was preceded in death by grandparents, parents, Jack Forton and Eleanor Crawford; and her brother-in-law, Don Miller. Still here to cherish her memory are her stepmother, Joy Stevens; husband, Douglas Gay; sisters, Janet (Ralph) Gardner and Laura Forton; children, Michael (Nichole) Gay, Bradley (Jenny) Gay, Douglas (Chanell) Gay; grandchildren, Keaton (Emma), Destiny, Austin, Zech, Natalie and Aaron; and great grandchild, Louella; sister-in-law's, Eva (Elli) Miller, Joyce (Rodney) Greene; brother-in-law, John Gay; and many nieces and nephews.
