Services for Bradley A. Rieckhoff, 53, who passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2016, will be held 3 p.m., Monday, November 14 at Grace United Methodist Church, 3700 Cottage Grove Avenue, Des Moines, IA, 50311

He is survived by his wife, Trudi; daughters, Tia and Nyah Rieckhoff; mother, Lois Rieckhoff; brother, Greg (Lori) Rieckhoff; sister, Janet (Tim) Rieckhoff-Faris.  He was preceded in death by his father Rev. William Rieckhoff.

Visitation will be held 1 to 4 p.m., Sunday, November 13 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola where family will be present from 2 to 4 p.m. to greet friends.

Obituaries usually contain details, when someone was born, where they went to school, when they married.  Brad was so much more than those details and that's what Trudi wanted to share.

Brad loved his girls.   Trudi, Tia, Nyah.

It was important to be involved in their lives.  Whether it was attending their events, or coaching them to their best, painting their nails, doing their hair, or being their chauffeur.  He attended their needs and loved it!  He was so proud of them!  Not only for their accomplishments but for who they are.

He loved his wife! His soulmate, Trudi.  They were college sweethearts and she was his best friend.  She was his world.  Trudi is a list person.  Brad would do as many things on the list as he could so they could do what they wanted when they were together.

Brad loved his family, his friends and his work.  He loved mentoring and building people up.  He saw the good in people and their potential and knew how to bring it out.  He was great at building teams and fortunate in finding a workplace he enjoyed going to and being a part of for 30 years.

Brad loved to ride bikes, take pictures, go R'ving, and enjoyed life to the fullest.  He loved God and lived his faith.  He believed actions spoke louder than words.

Very few knew the pain he was in due to deteriorating joints. He never complained.   He never even talked about it.  That's what led him to have surgery.  He wanted to be able to do more things again.

To honor Brad, love his girls, Trudi, Tia, Nyah.  Be patient.  Be kind.  Be honest.  Open a door for a stranger.  Don't complain about the line or traffic being slow.  Don't complain at all.  Look for the positive in everyone and every situation.  Build people up.  In essence, LOVE.

The family would like to request memorial contributions to be sent to the family for future remembrances to honor and remember Brad. Always and forever. The family plans on putting the memorial contributions towards a bench which will be placed along a walking path to honor Brad. The reason he went into surgery was so he could enjoy walking again, do what he loved to do and spend time with loved ones.
