Obituary

Services for Betty Wiedmann who passed away Thursday, August 16th, 2007 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 20, at the First United Methodist Church in Indianola. Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Betty was born to Frank and Pauline Ford on July 7th, 1925 and lived the vast majority of her life in Indianola. She is survived by her husband Bob of Indianola, sons Jerry Mathews (Julia)of Des Moines, Dick Mathews (Karen) of Indianola, Steve Mathews (Lillian) also of Indianola, and step-daughters Diane Brown (Jeff) of Omaha and Sue O'Brien (Jim) of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, 19 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Kathleen Cook of Corning, Iowa and Judy Gatrel (Ron) of Phoenix, Arizona, brother Jim Ford (Marty) of Indianola, sister-in-law Betty Ford of Indianola. She was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Pauline Ford, her son Ron Mathews of Everette, Washington and her brother Frank Ford Jr.

Betty was a life-long member of the First United Methodist of Indianola, was a member of the James Whitcomb Riley Club, the Sweet Adelines, the Friendly Neighbors Club, the Suzy Q square dance club, and many others. With her ready smile and warm heart, she will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

Visitation will be held 1 – 5 p.m., Sunday, August 19 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with family present to greet friends from 3 – 5 p.m. Memorials in her memory to the American Cancer Society or to the First United Methodist Church of Indianola will be welcome.
