Betty Lou was born in Milo, Iowa and had lived in Carlisle for 45 years where she taught elementary school until retirement in 1991. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Central Iowa Two Cylinder Club. She enjoyed working in her garden, spending time at the farm, spending time with her many friends and family, and following the Iowa Hawkeyes.

She is survived by her husband, Hugh "Bud" Schrier of Carlisle and son, Dr. James Schrier and his wife, Lauren of Moline, IL.

Visitation will be held 2:00 - 5:00 p.m., Sunday, August 20 at Overton Funeral Home where family will be present to greet friends. Memorials may be given to her church or the American Legion Auxiliary.
