Obituary

Services for Betty Ruth (Risinger) Ford, who passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at the Indianola Good Samaritan Center after lengthy complications of a broken hip and osteoporosis, will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, January 16, at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with cremation following services.

Betty was born January 16, 1928 in Spickerd, MO and married Frank (Junior) Ford by eloping to the Little Brown Church Christmas Eve 1949.  They were married 56 years before he passed away April 2007.  They enjoyed a happy marriage anchored by her devotion to being a homemaker and mother.  Her house was always immaculate and her grooming impeccable.  The family will miss her homemade noodles, pies, apple dumplings, ham balls, and ribs.

She worked as a greeter at Hy-Vee for several years.  All of her co-workers and customers became her extended family.

She is survived by grieving family members, Craig (Arla) Ford of North Bend, OR, Deborah (Jim Audsley) Schroder of Johnston; 7 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Jim (Marty) Ford, of Indianola; sister-in-law, Kathleen Cook of Corning; brother-in-law, Bob Wiedmann, and sister-in-law, Judy (Ron) Gatrel of Phoenix, AZ.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 until time of service at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Dollars for Scholars program designated for college scholarship money to an Indianola Hy-Vee employee.
