Betty C. (Welch) Cumings passed away at the Kavanagh Hospice House on 56th St., Des Moines, IA on Monday, May 24, 2010.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband Alvin, her parents and grandson Jason Cumings. She is survived by daughter, Linda (Ken) Ballard of Shell Knob, MO; son, David (Kathy) Cumings of Prole; grandchildren, Julie (Mark) Brownlee, Karla Murray and Matthew (Erin) Cumings; great grandchildren, Nathan, Rachel and Travis Brownlee.

We wish to express our deepest gratitude to those who cared for Betty during her year in hospice, especially the nurses, aides and volunteers. A special thank you to Pastor Jerry Kramer, Pastor Cindy Hickman and Pastor Kiboko I. Kiboko for their many visits and prayers.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Thursday, May 27, 2010 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola.  Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Indianola, IA.

Visitation will be held 3 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, May 26 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola where family will be present to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be given in Betty's name to Kavanagh House on 56th St. Des Moines.
