Services for Bernice LaVerne (Rubendall) Nicholson, 94, who passed away Saturday, October 22, 2016, will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, October 27 at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 3820 S.W. 9th Street, Des Moines, IA.  The visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church.  Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m., Thursday in the Oakland Cemetery, Sac City, IA.

Bernice was born July 20, 1922 in Sac City, IA, the daughter of Oscar and Rose (Hook) Rubendall. The family farmed south of Sac City where Bernice attended country school.

She married Walter Edward Loll on February 12, 1949 in a double ceremony with her sister Darlene (Rubendall) who married Eldon Hecht. Walter and Bernice resided in Lytton before moving to Indianola in 1951.

She raised her three boys after the loss of Walter Loll in 1965. Bernice worked at Northwestern Bell for many years. Later she married Harry Earl Nicholson of Charles City, IA. She took pleasure in the many trips they took to the Florida coast.

Bernice was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She never missed attending the many events of her grandchildren. They were her pride and joy. She also enjoyed gardening and attending Wednesday services at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd with all her cherished friends.

Survivors include her children, Walter "Edward" (Nancy)  Loll of San Bernardino, CA, Roger Loll of Sioux Falls, SD, and Dennis (Denise) Loll of Norwalk; five grandchildren, Mindy (Cam) Heavenly, Gary Loll, Sarah Loll, Jeff Loll, and Jake (Andi) Loll; and sister, Charlotte (Stanley) Allen of Storm Lake.  She was preceded in death by her husband Walter Loll, her husband Harry Nicholson, and her son Gary Loll.
