Bernice Viola Curtis, 99, of Liberty Center, passed away Sunday, August 25, 2024, visitation will be held 10 to 11 a.m., Thursday, August 29 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. Graveside services will be held immediately following in the Norwood Cemetery, Lucas.

Bernice was born on April 11, 1925 in Newbern, Iowa, to Archie Leslie and Trissie Estella (Burgett) Oxenreider. She married David Dwight Curtis on August 22, 1942. A graduate of Norwood, Iowa, Community School District, Bernice was a homemaker in Liberty Center, Iowa.

She was a volunteer for The Helping Hand of Warren County for over 10 years. She enjoyed the friendship with the volunteers, knowing she was helping others in need.

Surviving are her children, Earl (Shirley) Curtis of Adair, Audrey (Don) Konrad of Lacona, Everett (Kathy) Curtis of Des Moines, Barbara Fehrer of Ankeny, and Ronald (Leisa) Curtis of Ankeny; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; over 18 great great-grandchildren; and sisters, Nalta Brown and Alta Vander Ecken of Melcher-Dallas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers Chester Oxenreider and Roy Oxenreider, and sisters Maxine Oxenreider and Louise Schumacher.
