Becky Lynn Spencer was born September 15, 1959 in Des Moines, Iowa and passed away on November 23, 2010 at Bright Kavanagh House Hospice in Des Moines, IA. Becky was a life-long resident of Indianola graduated from Indianola High School with the class of 1977. She loved gardening and her balcony was always overflowing with flowers. Becky enjoyed cooking for friends and family and she spent ten years as the house cook for the ATO fraternity at Simpson College. Becky's smile was also frequently seen at Funaro's Bakery and Deli. Anyone who knew Becky knew of her passion for Cubs baseball. Becky was preceded in death by grandparents Frank and Ruby Hammon. She is survived by her daughters Casey Spencer of Lowell, MA and Elizabeth Spencer of Evergreen, CO; parents Sandra Holmes of Urbandale and Lowell (Jan) Beltz of Indianola, IA; sister Leigh Beltz of Indianola, IA; step-sister Staci (Jim) Scheurenbrand and children Adam and Joe of Indianola, IA and step-brother Eric Borchert and four children of Erie, CO; niece Emily Beltz of Indianola, IA; close friend Paul Huerter and his family of Indianola, IA and other nieces, nephews and cousins. A Celebration of Life visitation in Becky's honor will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Indianola, IA on Monday, November 29 from 4 to 8 pm. The family will be present to greet friends from 6 to 8 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for contributions to be given to Bright Kavanagh House Hospice in Des Moines. Becky was a much loved member of the community and she will not be forgotten.
