Barton Andrew "Bart" Hawley was born August 15th, 1965 in Iowa City, IA. He was the son of Leon and Carol (Smith) Hawley. He spent his childhood in Colorado. His favorite childhood memories were made on his grandparent's farms in Iowa, instilling his desire to someday own a farm of his own.

Bart graduated High School from Longmont, CO and later attended college at Upper Iowa University, where he received a degree in accounting. His biggest dream, however, was to be a farmer. After several moves and life changes, including raising his daughter, Kim, he settled on a farm in Indianola with his life partner, Michelle.

Bart will be fondly remembered as a dedicated father, one who spent time enjoying many activities and trying new things. He had a strong passion for his animals, beekeeping, the land, and his strong Christian faith. Together he and Michelle, and their dogs, Angel Heart and Jubilee were building a beautiful home and life together on the farm. Time there was spent with Michelle, along with her children Ganon and Ryley, and Ryley's fiancé, Korbin. Bart very much enjoyed being a bonus-dad to them as well as a father to Kim. When he wasn't working, he enjoyed time with his family taking trips to Colorado and annual visits to the Iowa State Fair.

He was employed by Active Interest Media at time of death, with hope to "semi" retire within the next year. He had a love for tractors and was also active as a Real Estate agent.

Bart passed away unexpectedly on December 18th at his home.   He is survived by his daughter Kimberly Hawley of Des Moines; his loving partner, Michelle Gorder of Indianola; her children, Ganon Gorder of Ankeny, and Ryley Gorder (fiancé Korbin Sesker) of Elkhart. a sister, Felice Foster (Charlie) of Longmont, CO; brother, Troy of Hedrick, IA; nieces and nephew, Melissa Penfold (Ben and son, Briggs) and Hannah Foster, Andrew (Megan) and Rebecca Hawley and Brett Bandow (Erin and their daughters) and Shawn Bandow (and his sons) all of Iowa Falls.

Memorial services will be held 1:30 p.m., Monday, December 27, 2021 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola.
