Services for Barbara (Middleswart) Hunerdosse, 98, who passed away Sunday, December 3, 2017, will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, December 7th at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola.  The family will be present one hour prior to services on Thursday at the funeral home.  Burial will follow in the Indianola I.O.O.F. Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Barbara was born on February 8, 1919, in Indianola, Iowa. She was the oldest of five daughters.  The daughter of a Christian Union minister, Barbara was very active in the church most of her life.  She grew up attending Fairview Christian Union Church.  She was a member of the Chariton Christian Union Church where she played the piano and taught Sunday School faithfully.  She was also active in the Gideons International Auxiliary.

Barbara married Roland Hunerdosse on May 12, 1944, and they were blessed with four children: Arminta, Robert, Loraine and Marion.  They farmed in Milo, West Des Moines, Indianola and Humeston.  When their children were grown, Barbara enjoyed working for many years in the kitchen at Decatur County Hospital in Leon.  After she retired from the hospital, they moved to Knoxville.  She will be lovingly remembered for her quick wit, her strong faith and her deep devotion to her family.

Survivors include her children, Robert (Elaine) Hunerdosse, Loraine (Roger) Lawler and Marion (Gail) Hunerdosse; sisters, June Higdon and Eva Grace Flynn; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and other family members.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Fay and Mabel Middleswart; husband Roland Hunerdosse; daughter, Arminta Shetterly; sisters, Edith Gray and Ruth Robertson and great-grandson, Jordan Hunerdosse.
