Arthur was born in south Des Moines January 21, 1919 and graduated from Lincoln High School. He served from March 1941 to October 1945 in the United States Army during WWII, both in the Pacific and European Theaters. He was one of the first to be drafted.
Arthur worked for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad for 42 ½ years. He was a member of the Norwalk United Methodist Church, American Legion Post #165 and Northwestern Historical Society.
Arthur is survived by his loving wife, Betty of 61 years and his six children, Rebecca (Frederick) Raab of Burlington, VT, Ardith (Thomas) Denney of Elgin, Frederick (Marla) Staude and Rudy Staude both of Indianola, Kathleen (Garry) Osborn of Urbandale and Rodney (Margaret) Staude of Norwalk. Also surviving are his 6 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and 2 sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers and 1 sister.
Visitation will be held 1:00 – 5:00 p.m., Sunday, March, 5 where family will be present to greet friends from 3:00 – 5:00 pm. Memorials may be given to the Norwalk United Methodist Church.
