Obituary

PLEASE NOTE CORRECT ADDRESS FOR the Ankeny First United Methodist Church, 206 SW Walnut Street, Ankeny, Iowa. ARNOLD DALE KRIEG Ankeny Services for Arnold Dale Krieg, 81, who passed away, Sunday, December 1, 2013, will be held 10 a.m., Thursday, December 5 at Ankeny First United Methodist Church, ADDRESS CORRECTION 206 SW Walnut Street, Ankeny, Iowa, with burial following in the Indianola I.O.O.F. Cemetery. A native of Carroll, Iowa, Arnold went on to earn a bachelors degree in Architecture from Iowa State University. After graduation, Arnold served in the United States Air Force, stationed state-side in Kansas. He began his architectural career with Keffer and Associates and concluded by retiring from the State of Iowa as the Chief Architect. During his retirement, Arnold consulted from time to time and maintained his license until his death. He was a loyal Cyclone fan throughout his life cheering from the stadium or his armchair. Arnold's two main passions were family and wood carving. Time spent with family was important and included Sunday dinners, annual fishing trips, family gatherings and vacations. He spent his winters in Arizona with his long-time companion. Also included as family throughout his life, were dogs. An especially important member for the past fourteen years has been Arnold's Bichon, Muffin, who travelled with him everywhere. His carving was self-taught, and he became especially known for his intrinsically detailed lake and stream fish carvings. Tying family and carving together, Arnold made beautiful and personalized gifts for family and friends alike. Arnold is preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Alice Krieg, his brother, Russell Krieg and his wife, Joyce Krieg. He is survived by his son, Kim Krieg (Peggy); daughter, Carol Paquette; grandchildren, Brian Paquette (Monique), Pamela Zalesky (Patrick) and Karl Krieg; two great-grandchildren, Madelyn and Callie Paquette; brother, Robert Krieg; and his companion, Jeanne Partlow. Visitation will be held 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, December 4 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with family present to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society. Online condolences may be made at www.overtonfunerals.com.
