ARLAN R. BECKER

Arlan Richard Becker, 75, of Milo, lost his battle with cancer on November 28th,  2017.

Arlan was born on March 8, 1942, to Richard and Iola Langebartels Becker.  He was a lifelong resident of the Milo community, where he farmed all his life.   Arlan was in the first graduating class of Southeast Warren Community School District in 1960.  He studied agriculture at Iowa State University.  Arlan was a well known farmer in the community and served his community in various ways.

He was a charter member of Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church where he was a very active member.

Arlan served on the Warren County Soil and Conservation district for 32 years as a Soil Commissioner serving as Chairman for many years.   He was recognized for his efforts in soil and water conservation and was a recipient of the Iowa Farm Environmental Leader Award from Governor Branstad in 2016.

He loved spending time with his family and attending his grandchildren's events was very important to him.  He was involved with 4-H and encouraged his kids with their livestock projects.  Also, he used his artistic talents to support his wife during her teaching career.

Memorials may be given in Arlan's name to Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church of Indianola.
