ANDREW MITCHELL Indianola Services for Andy Mitchell, 83, who passed away Friday, November 8, 2013 at the Westview Care Center in Indianola, will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, November 11 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with visitation one hour prior to services. Burial will follow in the Liberty Center Cemetery. Andrew was born January 22, 1930 in Scotland, raised by his mother Annie Thomson. At 18 years old, he joined the Royal Marines, serving in Bermuda, East Indies and Africa. After serving in the Marines he worked various jobs throughout Scotland. In 1979, he came to the United States to marry Delores (Whitlatch) Nettles, whom he met while working at the North British Hotel in Edinburgh, Scotland. Andrew worked in the morgue at Iowa Methodist Medical Center until his retirement in 1999. Survivors include his step-sons, Scott (Nancy) Roush of Indianola, Chad (Karen Kienker) Roush of Clive and Greg Roush of Des Moines; grandchildren, Emily Roush, Jason Roush, Brandon Roush, Justin (Becky) Roush and Ammee Roush; eight great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Forrest (Margaret) Whitlatch of Cedar Rapids; half-sisters, Nessie Thomson and Marianne Sproul; half brother, James (Dorothy) Thomson, all of Scotland; and friend and caregiver, Kathlene (Thaddeus) DeFoe.
