Amanda Roberts, 26, died Tuesday, February 7, 2006 from complications of Hydrocephalous and massive strokes which occurred in 1997. Services will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 15 at the Motor Friends Church in rural Milo with burial following in the Motor Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to services at the church.

Amanda was born August 11, 1979 to Marvin and Karma Roberts in Iowa City, IA. The family then moved to the New York area in 1980, where she attended school and graduated from Northwestern Academy in 1997. Amanda was very active in her school and was involved as a Class Officer, Yearbook Editor, Captain of Step Team, Choir and as President of the National Honor Society Northeastern Academy Chapter. Some of the honors she received were from The National Honor Roll, Who's Who Among American High School Students, All-American Scholar in 1996, United States National Leadership Merit Award and Kodak Young Leadership Award.

Amanda was a member of the Bronx Seventh-day Adventist Church and very active in the Adventurers, Pathfinders, Youth Choir and Youth Group. She served as Assistant Clerk, Usher and as a Delegate for Youth Congress.

Amanda was preceded in death by her grandfather, Frank Roberts.

Survivors include her parents, Marvin and Karma Roberts; brother, Joseph and a sister, Lydia all of New York; grandmother, Jessie Roberts of Georgia; grandparents, Ival and Geraldine Smith of Lacona, IA and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family, as they establish a scholarship in her name.
