Memorial services for Allen J. Hoskinson, Jr.,84 , who died Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at The Village at Legacy Pointe in Waukee, IA, will be held 1:30 p.m., Saturday, February 5 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. Burial of cremains will be at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Kiwanis Club for the Summerset State Park fishing dock. Allen J. Hoskinson was born April 21, 1926, in Adams County, Iowa, in the Corning Area, where he spent his early years. His family moved to Eastern Adams County where he graduated from high school from Cromwell High School, in Cromwell, Iowa, In 1952. He married Joan E. Smith in Kansas. He served in the military in WWII and the Korean War ended up serving at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington DC as part of his duty. After returning, he began farming and moved onto the family farm west of Creston. He also served as a Grain Warehouse Examiner for the Iowa Commerce Commission. They relocated to Indianola, Iowa in 1975. Survivors include two sisters, Martha Alves of Bellevue, NE and Elizabeth Brokaw of Lenox, IA; three sons, Craig (Maureen) Hoskinson of Bellevue, NE, Jay (Denese) Hoskinson of Dallas Center and Steve (Diane) Hoskinson of Creston; two daughters, Cynthia (Joe) Wolf of Creston and Suzanne (Tony) Shebek of Iowa City; grandsons, A.J. Hoskinson of Waukee, Tyler (fiancé Amanda) Wolf of Creston and Jordan Shebek of Iowa City; granddaughters, Christina Hoskinson of Sheridan, WY, Jennifer (Greg) Swan of St. Paul, MN, Amanda Hoskinson of Omaha, NE, Audrey Hoskinson of Indianapolis, IN, Kara (Ben) Raygor and Megan Hoskinson, both of Waukee, and Sarah Shebek of Lawrence, KS and Hannah (Chris) Rager of Madison, WI; and five great-grandchildren.
